There were no foreign entries for the 12-metre class at the 1908 Olympics but the event did have a certain international flavor asCharles MacIver’s Mouchette was crewed exclusively by Englishmen from Merseyside and the crew of Thomas Glen-Coats Hera were all Scotsmen from the Royal Clyde Yacht Club. Rather than take both boats all the way to Cowes, where the rest of the Olympic races were held, it was agreed to hold the 12-metre class races on the River Clyde and thus it became the only Olympic event ever to be held in Scotland. The local entry, Hera, won the first two races of a three-race series and the third race was not contested. Thomas Glen-Coats was the eldest of four sons of Sir Thomas Glen-Coats, Bt. and succeeded to the Baronetcy on the death of his father in 1922. Educated at Eton and Merton College, Oxford, he enjoyed a life of leisure and played no part in the hugely prosperous family business, J&P Coats, Ltd., the spinning merchants. In 1935, at the age of 57, Sir Thomas married Louise Hugon (formerly Mrs JC Newman) of Paris and as there was no issue to the marriage, the Baronetcy died with Sir Thomas in 1954.

Since it's a rather dumb thing to give an angel an actual history, we'll just have to start at the crossroads where Raph and I met. I'm not about to go into detail about it, even though the entire thing would make a horrendously good soap opera. In short, the 'nice young man in a sport coat' image was tossed aside in favor of the 'nice young man in a waistcoat' image. (You've got to remember we're talking centuries ago.¹) Just think of the fashions in 1512. You've got to love 'em. Anyway. To make a long story short, Raphy did something really, really, really stupid over me. (*sniffle* I feel so loved...!) Well, so I did the same really, really, really stupid thing, but I like to think I did it with more finesse. (peace!) Raphy just needed some more skills... that's all. Okay, so maybe the only reason I wasn't killed was because I wasn't an angel! For crying out loud. Yah, he was killed. I think. Not quite sure yet...³ Anyway. Yah. Just... chill until the first 4miko story of mine comes out.

Sports Coat Vs Blazer

Men's sport coats and blazers have become a wardrobe staple now more than ever. Guys are wearing sport coats with jeans in lieu of other outerwear, and I personally love the look, especially when worn in unexpected ways. Try a trim cotton blazer over a fun tee with jeans and some fun sneakers or a classic navy or black wool blazer with contrasting trousers.  Quite simply, any variation of a blazer, sport coat or suit jacket makes a guy look put together. It's always a good choice.

He served in this capacity for 20 years under both Riley and C. M. Newton, eventually becoming Newton's top assistant. When Newton resigned to become assistant commissioner of the Southeastern Conference, Sanderson was named his successor. In 11 years as head coach his teams averaged 21.8 wins a year, with a 267-119 record, and they won 5 SEC tournaments. They played in one NIT and ten NCAA tournaments making the "Sweet 16" six times. He is only coach in Alabama history to win 200 or more games in his first 10 years. He was the Southeastern Conference Coach of the Year in 1987, 1989 and 1990, and was the National Coach of the Year in 1987.Sanderson was famous for wearing plaid sport jackets on the sidelines. During his glory years at Alabama, the Coleman Coliseum was known as the "Plaid Palace" (with its midcourt logo painted crimson-and-white plaid), the Million Dollar Band was known as the "Plaid Players", and many fans came to games wearing plaid in Sanderson's honor.

Versatile and classic, the blazer is an essential element in your new dress wardrobe. A great go-to jacket, a blazer can easily be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Keep in mind that if you have a navy suit, the jacket of that suit can double as a navy blazer.Blazer vs. Sport Coat. The only difference between a blazer and a sport coat is that a blazer is always solid-colored and a sport coat always has some type of pattern (stripes, checks, herringbone, etc.).Dress it up by wearing it with a tie and wool gabardine dress pants. This handsome look is nearly as formal as a suit.Dress it down by wearing it with khakis or even jeans. Match your blazer or sport coat with a sport shirt or polo shirt for a casual look that goes to lunch or an informal meeting.Quick Tip: Whether you're pairing your blazer with dress pants, khakis, or blue jeans, adding a white pocket square adds instant elegance and refinement to your look.

In April of 1982 Time magazine featured Giorgio Armani on its cover. Armani's first radically different blazer appeared in the fashion world under his own label between 1974 and 1975. His sartorial style exhibited a decidedly relaxed, even rumpled look. The designer softened these new jackets by pulling out the padding and lining and leaving out stiffeners of any kind. He combined thinner lapels with baggier pockets and longer jackets. "Armani's unstructured look makes even his English wool suits feel as comfortable as silk pajamas," observed a writer for People magazine. And in Esquire, Rita Hamilton credited Armani's suit jackets with "the kind of shape that defied the proper Italian establishmentarian look and mirrored the defiant, angry mood of political and social unrest." But, as American designer Donna Karan put it in the New York Times Magazine, "fashion evolves." And Armani's designs did change by the end of the 1970s.                                                                                      Casual Sport Coat
